PROJECTS THAT COULD DELAY TRAFFIC ON RCOC ROADS

It is RCOC’s goal to conduct road improvement projects in a way that interferes with traffic as little as possible. This list includes both Road Commission projects and projects conducted by others, under permit, on roads under the jurisdiction of the Road Commission.

Please note: This information is subject to change. Projects can change from day to day, and traffic delays can develop in a matter of minutes due to weather, emergency situations, etc.

Asterisks next to projects denote new projects or a change since last week.

 

ROAD:                       Middlebelt Road from Ten Mile Road to I-696 

Project:                       RCOC is resurfacing this section of Middlebelt. The road remains open to traffic, but motorists should expect delays.

Community:               Farmington Hills

Completion Date:      By Oct. 30

 

*ROAD:                     Pontiac Trail between Grand River Ave. and Martindale Road 

Project:                       This section of Pontiac Trail is closed until approx. Nov. 5 while Lyon Twp. constructs a roundabout. During the project, the detour route for through traffic is Grand River Ave. to Kent Lake Road to Silver Lake Road and back to Pontiac Trail and vice versa.

Community:               Lyon Twp.

Completion Date:      Nov. 5 

ROADS:                     RCOC is performing simple resurfacing projects on the following roads.

                                    – Parkdale Road, Lettica Street to Dequindre Road in Rochester. Work is expected to take place on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 23 and 24. The road will remain open during the work, but motorists should expect delays.

                                    – Pontiac Trail, a half-mile west of Wixom Road to Beck Road in Wixom. This road is expected to be paved on Oct. 30. The road will remain open during the work, but motorists should expect delays.

                                    – Wixom Road, West Road to Pontiac Trail in Wixom. This road is being resurfaced today (Oct. 20). Work is expected to be completed by end of day Oct. 21. The road remains open to traffic during the work.

 

ROAD:                       Middlebelt Road between 12 Mile and 13 Mile roads

Project:                       This section of Middlebelt is closed to through traffic due to a sinkhole caused by a separation of sections of an Oakland County Water Resources Commission (WRC) sanitary sewer line under the road. During the closure, Orchard Lake Road is the detour route.

Community:               Farmington Hills

Completion Date:      November

ROAD:                       Novi Road between 10 Mile Road and Grand River Ave.

Project:                       RCOC is widening and reconstructing this road. The majority of the work will take place in 2011, but some working is occurring this year. There may be some weekend closures of the road this year, though the schedule has not yet been finalized.

Completion Date:      November 2011

ROAD:                       Orion Road, Snell Road to 1,500 feet north of Ordam Street

Project:                       RCOC is resurfacing this section of Orion Road. The road remains open to traffic throughout the project.

Community:               Oakland Twp.

Completion Date:      Approximately end of October

ROAD:                       Teggerdine Road, M-59 to White Lake Road

Project:                       RCOC will resurface this road beginning approximately Nov. 1. The road will remain open to traffic throughout the project.

Community:               White Lake Twp.

Completion Date:      Approximately Nov. 15

ROAD:                       Hickory Ridge Road south of Bone Road  

Project:                       This section of Hickory Ridge Road is closed today, Wednesday, Oct. 20, while RCOC replaces a culvert under the road. The detour route is Taylor Road to Rose Center Road to Bone Road and back to Hickory Ridge Road and vice versa.

Community:               Rose Twp.

Completion Date:      End of day, Oct. 20

 

ROAD:                       Baldwin Road south of Indianwood Road

Project:                       This section of Baldwin will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 23, so a culvert can be replaced under the road. The detour route is Clarkston Road to Joslyn Road to Indianwood Road and back to Baldwin and vice versa.

Community:               Orion Twp.

Completion Date:      End of day Oct. 23

 

ROAD:                       Livernois Road, Square Lake Road to Wattles Road 

Project:                       There is a rolling closure of this section of Livernois today, Wednesday, Oct. 20, while the Troy Historical Commission moves a historic home from the Livernois/Square Lake intersection to the Troy Historical Museum at the Livernois/Wattles intersection.

Community:               Troy

Completion Date:      By 3 p.m. Oct. 20

*ROAD:                     Tripp Road east of Dixie Highway

Project:                       This section of Tripp Road is scheduled to be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 2 and 3, so RCOC can replace a culvert under the road. During the closure, the detour route will be Dixie Highway to Grange Hall and back to Tripp and vice versa.

Community:               Groveland Twp.

Completion Date:      End of day Nov. 3

 

Projects completed since last week:

RCOC has completed the replacement of the Tienken Road bridge over the Stony Creek east of Sheldon in Rochester Hills, and this section of Tienken has been re-opened to traffic. 

– Davisburg Road east of Milford Road was closed on Oct. 16 while RCOC replaced a culvert under the road. The road is now open. 

– Davisburg Road east of Eagle Road was closed on Oct. 16 while RCOC replaced a culvert under the road. The road is now open. 

– Rochester Road east of Lakeville Road in Addison Twp. was closed on Oct. 16 while RCOC replaced a culvert under the road. The road is now open.    

– Milford Road east of Fenton Road in Rose Twp. was closed on Oct. 19 while RCOC replaced a culvert under the road. The road is now open.
