Public info meeting for upcoming Tienken and Avon Road Projects

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will conduct a public information meeting on Monday, March 24 about two major road projects planned for this year in Rochester Hills: the widening and reconstruction of Tienken Road between Rochester and Livernois roads and the resurfacing of Avon Road between Adams and Livernois roads.

The meeting will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Rochester Hills City Hall, 1000 Rochester Hills Drive (on the south side of Avon Road between Livernois and Old Perch roads). The meeting will be open house format – there will not be a formal presentation, but RCOC staff will be on hand to answer questions or review the project plans with anyone interested.

The Tienken Road project involves reconstructing this section as a three-lane road with a continuous center turn lane. Additionally, a roundabout will be constructed at the Tienken/Livernois intersection. The project will include drainage improvements, pedestrian pathways on each side of the road, intersection lighting at the roundabout, retaining walls at several locations and other related improvements.

The Avon project involves asphalt resurfacing of this two-mile section of road. The project will include the addition of several turn lanes to improve safety, replacement of some traffic signals, pedestrian crosswalk upgrades and pathway enhancements.
