The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will conduct two public input and information meetings related to the planned 2015/2016 reconstruction and potential widening of Dequindre Road between Long Lake and Auburn roads on the Troy/Sterling Heights and Rochester Hills/Shelby Township borders.
The meetings will take place as follows:
Meeting 1: Monday, June 18, 4 to 7 p.m. at Reuther Middle School , 1430 East Auburn Road in Rochester Hills (west of Dequindre). The meeting will be in the school’s media center.
Meeting 2: Thursday, June 21, 4 to 7 p.m. at River Bends Township Park in Shelby Township . The meeting will be at the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center , 4101 River Bends Drive .
Both meetings will be open-house format: Anyone can stop by at any time during the meeting to speak with a Road Commission representative or review project information. There will not be any formal presentations. Anyone can provide input that will be recorded and become part of the project record.
Input received at the meetings will help to determine the project design. Several options are currently being considered: Simply reconstruct the road without adding any lanes, widen the two-lane portions of the road to three lanes (with a continuous center left-turn lane) or widen the entire stretch to five lanes, with two through lanes and a continuous center left-turn lane.
