The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), the City of Rochester Hills and Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will host a public meeting Thursday, April 20, on plans to reconstruct segments of South Blvd. and Auburn Road in the communities of Rochester Hills and Troy, as well as the city’s plans improve some subdivision roads and replace some water mains in the general area.
The public meeting is from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Avondale Meadows Academy, 1435 West Auburn Road, Rochester Hills. The meeting will be an open-house format — there will be no formal presentations. RCOC, city and MDOT staff will be present to answer questions throughout the public meeting.
The RCOC, City of Rochester Hills, the City of Troy and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party program) jointly funds the work on South Blvd.
The $1.8 million project includes:
- Resurfacing and widening of South Blvd./Livernois intersection
- Adding northbound, southbound and westbound right-turn lanes at the intersection
- New traffic signals
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant pedestrian crossings
- South Blvd. resurfacing from Crooks to Livernois and John R to west of Dequindre
- Water main replacements by the City of Rochester Hills
The South Blvd./Livernois intersection improvements will begin this spring with a late summer completion.
The resurfacing project is expected to begin in June and be completed by late August. The section between John R and Dequindre will be completed first.
South Blvd. will remain open to traffic during construction; however, motorist can expect delays and are advised to find alternate routes. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
