Raise a glass at Paint Creek Trail Wine Tasting Event

The Friends of the Paint Creek Trail are hosting a Wine Tasting Event Fundraiser on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Fieldstone Winery in Rochester. Guests will receive eight samples of wine, assorted hors d’oeuvres, and tickets for a Chinese auction. Live background music will also be provided. Additional Chinese auction tickets may also be purchased at the event to increase chances of winning donated prizes. The event will also feature two silent auction items awarded to the highest bidder:  a framed and matted watercolor print of the Paint Creek Trail and a new bicycle from the Rochester Bike Shop.

“We thought a wine tasting event would be a fun way to help raise funds for trail improvements.  Available at the winery is a Paint Creek Trail Red and Paint Creek Trail Pomegranate Zinfandel. Both wines are very popular and people really enjoy them,” said Friends President Jim VanDoorn.  The Friends group receives a donation for each bottle purchased.

Bike Fix-It Station

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. All proceeds benefit improvements to the Paint Creek Trail.  The Friends recently donated their first gift to the trail – a Bike Fixit Station that was installed at the Paint Creek Cider Mill. Cyclists can make adjustments to their bikes and use an air pump to inflate their tires. The Fixit Station comes with all the tools necessary, and users can scan a code to get specific repair instructions. The Friends group was inspired to purchase the station after seeing two others installed in the area – one on the Clinton River Trail, and one at Rochester Municipal Park. Both stations were donated by local resident and cycling enthusiast Ryan Katulic.

“We are so fortunate to have great trails, pathways, and cycling opportunities in the area.  Ryan Katulic and the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail are examples of the great support we have in the community for world class cycling facilities,” said Trail Manager Kristen Myers.

The Friends of the Paint Creek Trail is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose purpose is to promote the use, maintenance, and improvements of the Paint Creek Trail.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.paintcreektrailfriends.org, or by calling (248) 651-9260.
