Steve Stolaruk, Community Philanthropist Honored for Life of Giving
Contributed by Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett
This morning we learned that Steve Stolaruk, a longtime resident and community supporter, passed away overnight. We were shocked and saddened by the news.
Since the time I was elected Mayor of the City of Rochester Hills, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Steve. Over the last ten years, I have found him to be a dynamic individual, passionate about life, his family, and our community.
Mr. Stolaruk was a longtime resident of Rochester Hills and dedicated business owner in our community. In 2013, the Steve and Vivian Stolaruk Foundation donated $1 million of in-kind services to the city to begin construction on our newest park, Innovation Hills.
His outstanding generosity and commitment to the protection of green infrastructure and the advancement of health-focused recreational opportunities, unlocked the potential for this new city park.
He was the first individual to believe in the park and saw the vision when no one else could. He was a resident, business owner, community philanthropist but most importantly, he was my friend and I will miss him greatly.
In honor of Steve’s support, vision, and generosity to Innovation Hills, a black ribbon will be placed over the park’s entrance in the coming days. His legacy to our community will live for generations to come.
