Renowned Violinist Regina Carter comes to Oakland University and Detroit for April Concerts
Renowned jazz violinist Regina Carter, Oakland University’s artist-in-residence, will be in town for two performances in April. Considered the foremost jazz violinist of her generation, she travels the world to perform and is the recipient of a MacArthur “Genius” Award.
Children’s Concert
Carter and the Oakland Jazz Quartet will give a Children’s Concert on Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m. in OU’s Varner Hall, which will be perfect for children of any age. Expect music from movies such as Frozen, Star Wars, The Little Mermaid, Monsters Inc. and more. Audience members are welcome to come dressed in their favorite movie character costume. Tickets are $6 and free for children two and under.
The children’s concert is in Varner Recital Hall on the campus of Oakland University. Maps of the campus are available at www.oakland.edu/map or by searching for “Varner Hall” on a smartphone. Ample free parking will be available.
