State Rep. Michael Webber today voted in favor of the Fiscal Year 2017 budget, praising the General Fund and School Aid Fund budgets for their support of Michigan’s students and infrastructure.
“This is a budget that funds our state priorities,” said Rep. Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “From increased per-pupil funding for K-12 to additional resources for Universities and Community Colleges, this budget emphasizes our focus on strengthening education in our state. At the same time, we are spending more to help improve the quality our roads and infrastructure, provide revenue sharing for municipalities and invest needed funding for our neighbors in Flint.”
Webber serves as the vice chair of the Committees on Criminal Justice and Government Operations, and is also a member of the committees on Tax Policy, Energy Policy, and Insurance.
“This is the second year since I have been in office and the sixth year overall that the budget – which starts on October 1 – has been completed by early June,” Rep. Webber said. “This is important so that school districts, municipalities etc. can plan for the year and have budget certainty.”
Now the budget heads to the governor’s desk for action.
