Residents concerned about the recent and controversial installation of DTE smart meters in the Rochester area are invited to a meeting set for Thursday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Attorney Greg Meihn will discuss whether DTE had authority to install the meters without permission of the homeowner, potential health risks of the meters, whether the meters can be removed, and DTE’s response to some communities’ request to wait until further information was gathered on the safety of the meters. The answers will help determine whether the group should move forward with a class-action lawsuit.
DTE has said consumers have the right to ‘opt out’ of these installations, but residents say they were not notified the meters would be installed on their homes.
The meeting will be held at Deerfield Elementary School, 3600 Crooks, in Rochester Hills. The meeting is being organized by a Rochester Hills resident. For more information on the smart meters, visit http://www.electricalpollution.com/smartmeters.html.
