Rochester Community Schools congratulates retiring Superintendent Dave Pruneau for being chosen as the next superintendent of Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 in Illinois. Mr. Pruneau will assume his duties as the leader of Elmhurst’s 13 schools and over 8,000 students, beginning on July 1.
“My experience in Rochester Community Schools has been invaluable to me, both professionally and personally,” said Mr. Pruneau. “The students, staff and parents are what make this a great school district. I am confident that Rochester will continue to meet the community’s expectation for excellence despite the financial challenges on the horizon.”
Mr. Pruneau was named superintendent by the Rochester Community Schools Board of Education in January, 2006. During his tenure he implemented a strategic planning model based on data-driven decision making, re-aligned the high school curriculum to the Michigan Merit Curriculum, initiated a 9th grade mentoring program and has guided the district to a financial position that will allow it to endure the latest round of state budget reductions and escalating retirement costs. Rochester Community Schools has benefited greatly under the leadership of Mr. Pruneau, and students, staff and community members wish him well when he takes his new position in July.
