The following projects may cause traffic delays on Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) roads between Aug. 10 and Aug. 17 or may start shortly thereafter.
It is RCOC’s goal to conduct road improvement projects in a way that interferes with traffic as little as possible. This list includes both Road Commission projects and projects conducted by others, under permit, on roads under the jurisdiction of the Road Commission.
Please note: This information is subject to change. Projects can change from day to day, and traffic delays can develop in a matter of minutes due to weather, emergency situations, etc.
*ROAD: Walton Blvd. from east of Adams Road to Great Oaks Blvd.
Project: RCOC is resurfacing this road. During the project, at least one lane of Walton in each direction will remain open at all times, but motorists may experience some backups, especially during rush hours.

Completion Date: By approximately Aug. 19
ROAD: Crooks Road, just north and south of M-59 (from Austin Street to Star-Batt Drive)
Project: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is resurfacing and widening this section of Crooks to five lanes as part of the widening of the Crooks Road bridge over M-59. During the work, Crooks is reduced to a single lane in each direction between Austin and Star-Batt. The new Crooks Road overpass over M-59 will be four lanes, and two new loop ramps are being added at the interchange to eliminate left turns. The existing ramps at the interchange are also being slightly reconfigured and reconstructed.

ROAD: Crooks Road, 14 Mile Road to Equity Street
Project: RCOC is reconstructing this road and widening it from four lanes to five. During the project, at least one lane of this section of Crooks Road remains open in each direction, but motorists should expect delays.
Community: Troy, Royal Oak and Clawson
Completion Date: By Oct. 14
ROAD: Novi Road, 12 Mile Road to Grand River Ave.
Project: RCOC is upgrading traffic signals and pedestrian crosswalks in this section of Novi Road. During the project, there will be occasional lane closures, but most work will be done out of the roadway.

ROAD: Pontiac Trail at M-5
Project: RCOC is constructing a modern roundabout at the Pontiac Trail/M-5 intersection. As part of this project, Pontiac Trail is closed from M-5 to Welch Road, and there are lane closures on M-5 and Pontiac Trail east of M-5. Pontiac Trail will remain closed between Welch and M-5 for the duration of the project. The detour route for Pontiac Trail through traffic is Haggerty to West Maple to Welch and back to Pontiac Trail and vice versa.

ROAD: Parkdale Road between Letica Drive and Dequindre Road
Project: This section of Parkdale is closed while RCOC replaces the Parkdale bridge over the Stony Creek. Throughout
the project, the detour route for through traffic is Dequindre to Avon to Rochester Road/Main Street to Romeo Road and back to Parkdale & vice versa.

Completion Date: Sept. 15
ROAD: Crescent Lake Road at M-59
Project: RCOC is constructing a new, southbound right-turn lane on Crescent Lake Road on the north side of M-59. The road remains open to traffic in both directions during construction, but motorists may experience some delays.
Community: Waterford Twp.
Completion Date: Sept. 16
ROAD: Adams Road, South Boulevard to Auburn Road
Project: RCOC is resurfacing this section of Adams. During most of the project, the road will remain open to traffic with intermittent lane closures. However, the road will be closed to through traffic for three weeks from approximately Aug. 15 to Sept. 2. During that time, the detour route for through traffic will be South Boulevard to Crooks Road to Auburn Road and back to Adams and vice versa.

*ROAD: Eight Mile Road, Dixboro Road to Pontiac Trail
Project: RCOC will pave this gravel section of Eight Mile Road beginning approximately Aug. 15. For the duration of the project, the road will be closed to through traffic. Work will proceed until November, then stop for the winter and resume in April 2012. The detour route during the closure will be Pontiac Trail to Nine Mile to Dixboro and back to Eight Mile and vice versa.

ROAD: Milford Road at Dawson Road
Project: In conjunction with RCOC, Milford Twp. is widening and improving Milford Road at the Dawson Road intersection, adding center left-turn lanes on Milford Road. Both roads will remain open throughout the project, but there will be lane closures on Milford and, at times the road will be reduced to one lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays with traffic directed by flaggers.

*ROAD: Hatchery Road between Crescent Lake Road and Airport Road
Project: This section of Hatchery is closed through approximately end of day Aug. 12 while RCOC replaces a culvert under the road. The detour route is Crescent Lake Road to Tubbs Road to Airport Road and back to Hatchery Road and vice versa.

Completion Date: End of day on Aug. 12
ROAD: Oxford Road between Noble Road and Oakwood Road
Project: Enbridge Energy has closed this section of Oxford Road through approximately Aug. 22 so it can excavate, inspect, maintain and repair its 30-inch diameter petroleum pipeline. The detour route is Noble Road to Gardner Road to Oakwood Road and back to Oxford Road and vice versa.

*ROAD: Crooks Road between Banmoor and Fountain streets
Project: RCOC will resurface this section of Crooks beginning approximately Sept. 6.

*ROAD: Dequindre Road, South Boulevard to Auburn Road
Project: RCOC will resurface this section of Dequindre Road beginning approximately Sept. 6.
Community: On the Rochester Hills/Shelby Township and the Troy/Sterling Heights borders
Completion Date: By Nov. 15
*ROAD: Lahser Road at Lone Pine Road
Project: Consumers Energy has closed the northbound right-turn lane of Lahser Road at Lone Pine Road to repair a gas line. The repair should be completed tonight (Wednesday, Aug. 10). During the work, flaggers are directing traffic around the work.
