The Rochester African American Parent Network (Rochester AAPN) will have its first Student Recognition Ceremony on May 20, 2011. The Rochester AAPN is part of a network of African American Parent Networks across Oakland County, in partnership with Oakland Schools and the local district. The Rochester AAPN has been formed to help Rochester Community Schools bridge the academic achievement gap. The mission is to stimulate academic excellence and social development through strong parental support and partnership with Rochester Community Schools. This end of the year recognition ceremony will honor graduating seniors and high achieving students in the Rochester Community School District that have excelled academically and /or demonstrated exceptional public service efforts. RCS Administration and parents were allowed to nominate students along with a brief essay on students’ accomplishments.
We will celebrate our students’ achievements on May 20, 2011 6-9pm at Rochester Community Schools Building in the Harrison Room. Tickets are $6 per adult at the door. For more information about RAAPN or to participate in upcoming events please contact us at Rochesteraapn@hotmail.com.
