The Rochester Area Junior Chamber has local businesses and community leaders to thank for another successful Christmas Shopping Tour, which took place on Saturday, December 15th, 2012.
The Rochester Area Neighborhood House identified for the Jaycees with 29 children who were paired with volunteers to shop for gifts for their family members at Meijer on Rochester Road.
After the shopping was finished, the children were transported to the Older Persons’ Commission for a Christmas party where they wrapped gifts, played games, worked on crafts and enjoyed a pizza lunch. Santa Claus made a special visit and passed out gifts and stockings to the children with the help of Rochester Hills City Council Vice President Michael Webber, who co-chaired the event with his wife, Julia.
Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett provided the pizza and pop during lunch. In addition, the children received hand-knitted hats and scarves from the OPC.
The Rochester Area Junior Chamber could not have done the event without the generous donations of the community and would like to thank the following donors who contributed this year: Judge Lisa L. Asadoorian; First Light Home Care; Fox Optical; Bill Fox Chevrolet; Gofrank & Mattina, P.C.; Huntington Ford; Oakland Animal Hospital; Ray Electric; St. Andrew Catholic Church; George Seifert and Elizabeth Seifert Foundation; Steven P. Utecht, D.D.S.; Robert and Nancy Webber.
