Rochester College Concert Band To Perform Classic & Patriotic Selections

Rochester College’s Concert Band will perform a combination of classical band and patriotic music on Tuesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is part of the weeklong Academic Symposium that the college presents at the end of every school year.

Rochester College Concert BandThe first half of the program will feature music by Puccini, Jacob, Bogenschutz, Bocook, and the band masterwork “Incantation and Dance.” Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War and the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, the second half will feature patriotic music, “A Music Tribute to the Armed Forces,” Jerry Bilik’s “American Civil War Fantasy,” Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” and others.

The 70-member Rochester College Concert Band includes RC undergraduates and faculty, students from other area colleges, advanced high school musicians and adult community members. RC music instructor Paul DeRubeis, who is the retired director of bands at Bloomfield Middle School, directs the group.
