Rochester College’s theatre department will present five performances of Anne of Green Gables, a play based on the beloved classic by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Feb 20-23, in the Rochester College theatre.
In Anne of Green Gables, elderly bachelor Matthew Cuthbert and his spinster sister, Marilla Cuthbert, are in need of a nice, sturdy boy to help Matthew on the farm. So they decide to adopt an orphan. But the orphanage mistakenly sends a girl instead — a mischievous, talkative redhead who would be of no use at all. She would simply have to go back. But the longer Anne Shirley stays at Green Gables, the more no one can imagine living without her.
Performances of Anne of Green Gables, adapted by R. N. Sandberg, will be Thursday-Saturday, Feb 20-22, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, Feb 22-23, at 2 p.m. All productions take place in the Rochester College Theatre on the campus of Rochester College at 800 W. Avon Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for adults in advance, and $12 for adults at the door. To reserve tickets online, visit www.rc.edu/rctheatre.
