The 70-member Rochester College Concert Band includes RC undergraduates and faculty, students from other area colleges, advanced high school musicians and adult community members.
The concert will feature one of the greatest and best-known overtures ever written: “Poet and Peasant” by Von Suppe. A beautiful transcription of “Lux Arumque” by Eric Whitacre and the spicy “Italian Rhapsody” by Julie Giroux will also be performed. The second half of the concert will include new and familiar sounds of the Advent and Christmas seasons.
The Tuesday performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Rochester College Theatre at 800 West Avon Road in Rochester Hills, Mich. Admission is free, though small donations are accepted. For tickets or more information, call (248) 218-2149 or e-mail music@rc.edu.
