Rochester Community Concert Band Presents “Spooktacular”

The Rochester Community Concert Band (RCCB) will present its first concert of the 2019-2020 season, Tuesday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rochester High School Performing Arts Center located at 180 South Livernois (at Walton), Rochester Hills, MI. The concert is open to the public and free to attend, but donations are gratefully accepted.

This music program features sounds of space travel and spooks we all hear at Halloween. Works include “Music for a Darkened Theatre,” featuring film scores of Danny Elfman, Holst’s “Mars” from “The Planets,” and “The Complete Harry Potter Themes” from all eight movies. Also “Dark” by Steven Bryant, “Symphonic Suite from Star Trek” by Michael Giacchino, and “Also Sprach Zarathustra” by Strauss.

The centerpiece of the concert will be “One Giant Leap” by Eric Morales. This musical selection pays homage to the astronauts of Apollo 11 and celebrates the 50th anniversary of that achievement.

The RCCB was established in 2016 and is comprised of 70-plus volunteer musicians representing a wide range of experiences and backgrounds. New members are welcome.
