Rochester Community House Continues to Serve the Community through Sunday Dinner

With the help of local churches and non-profits, Sunday dinner is provided to many low-income families and seniors on the third Sunday of each month at Rochester Community House through its Community Kitchen. October’s Sunday Dinner will be held on October 17 at 5 p.m. and is sponsored by St. John Lutheran Church. There is no charge for this dinner and guests will also receive groceries as the need arises.

Home cooked meals are served to diners with linen tablecloths and floral centerpieces in a banquet room at Rochester Community House. It is an enjoyable community gathering for both diners and volunteers. To date, the Community Kitchen has served more than 2,000 diners. The kitchen also distributes more 25 bags of groceries each week to those in need through its kitchen pantry.

To assist with the Community House efforts to support the community, The Community Kitchen is in need of non-perishable canned food items including canned meats, pastas, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, and pancake mixes.  They also accept personal hygiene items and paper products such as soaps, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and toilet tissue.
