Andrea Walker-Leidy was selected by the Board of Education of the Rochester Community School District to fill the vacant trustee position during the April 24 special meeting. The term for the trustee appointment will continue through December 31, 2018.
“Andrea fosters a spirit of collaboration and relationship building. We are confident that her skills, along with her personal, professional, and philanthropic experience, will be an asset to our Board and the Rochester Community School District,” said Board President Sandy Fiaschetti, Ph.D.

Seven candidates initially interviewed at the board meeting: Lindy Cubba, Andrew Felton, Sarah Guadalupe, Shishir Gupta, Clifton Hitchcock, Khary Mason, and Andrea Walker-Leidy.
Three individuals (Gupta, Felton, and Walker-Leidy) were then invited to return for a second interviews – to break a tie – before the final selection was made.
“Andrea has a passion for our community. We are pleased to welcome her on board and look forward to working with her,” said Superintendent Robert Shaner, Ph.D.
Following the appointment of Walker-Leidy to the trustee position, board members took the opportunity to thank the candidates for their interest in public service and willingness to dedicate their time and talents for the good of the school district. “We encourage candidates to stay involved with our schools and consider the November election,” said Fiaschetti.
