Rochester Community Schools Board of Education to Fill Trustee Vacancy

The Board of Education of the Rochester Community School District is seeking to fill a vacant trustee position, following the resignation of President Jessica Gupta, effective March 1, 2026. All eligible candidates are encouraged to apply.

The board will follow the Revised School Code and Michigan Election Law in appointing an eligible candidate to fill the trustee position. When the appointee takes the Oath of Office, their term will begin immediately and continue through the November 2026 election. 

For consideration as a candidate, the application and resume must be received by the Vice President of the Board of Education of the Rochester Community School District by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026. Postmark dates will not be considered.

The Board will identify applicants who will move to the interview round during a regular meeting held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the RCS Early Childhood Education Center, 3838 N. Rochester Road, Oakland Twp., MI 48306. Applicants do not need to be present. Those applicants identified to continue with the interview process will be notified.

A special meeting will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the RCS Early Childhood Education Center to meet candidates, conduct public interviews, and select a trustee. This meeting will replace the regular meeting originally scheduled. There will be an open house at 6:00 p.m. to meet the candidates, followed by candidate interviews at 6:30 p.m. and the subsequent appointment of a trustee. Interviews will be broadcast on RCS cable television.

The application timeline is as follows:

  • Tuesday, February 10 – Vacancy announced to the community
  • Friday, February 13 – Application available 
  • Friday, February 27, at 12:00 p.m. – Deadline for receipt of applications
  • Monday, March 9, at 6:00 p.m. – Applicants moving to the interview phase will be identified during the Board of Education meeting
  • Monday, March 23
    • 6:00 p.m. – Open house to meet the candidates
    • 6:30 p.m. – Candidate interviews, followed by the appointment of a trustee
