Rochester Community Schools is pleased to recognize their National Merit® Scholarship Semifinalists who scored in the top one percent of approximately 1.5 million students from more than 22,000 schools nationwide on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“We are proud of the academic accomplishments of our National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists,” said Rochester Community Schools Superintendent Robert Shaner. “We congratulate the students, along with the dedicated parents, teachers, and administrators who continue to support their educational growth.”
According to a press release issued by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, approximately 16,000 Semifinalists have the opportunity to compete for 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and nearly half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
