Rochester Garden Club Presents Farm to Table

Growing and Preparing Organic Food

The Rochester Garden Club, in partnership with the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, is bringing together two professionals with a passion for delicious, fresh wholesome food to present Farm to Table, a program that is designed to educate and inspire. Chef Chris Cason of the Chapman House and Lisa Jaroch, owner of Cold Frame Farm will combine their talents to present a program about growing environmentally sustainable food, and preparing that food to bring out its best. This program will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22 at the Calf Barn on the site of the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm.

Chef Chris Cason is the Executive Chef at Chapman House, a Rochester restaurant. After earning a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, he has spent more than a decade developing menus and honing his culinary skills at notable mid-west restaurants. Chris delights in combining locally sourced ingredients, to assure the freshest possible flavors, with culinary skills to optimize the dining experience. He will share his skills and culinary techniques with the audience.

Also featured is Lisa Jaroch, an organic farmer located in Romeo Michigan. Lisa worked as a landscape architect in the Detroit area for many years but always dreamed about starting an organic farm. In 2011 she left the corporate world became a certified organic farmer after completing the Student Organic Farmer training program at Michigan State University. In 2013 she opened Cold Frame Farm, where she currently farms two acres in season, and operates three large cold frames for year around produce. Lisa will provide the ingredients for the program, and discuss her organic farming operations. She will also have her produce and eggs available for purchase.

The Rochester Garden Club is happy to offer this program to everyone who loves delicious and wholesome food, thoughtfully prepared. Tickets for Farm to Table are now on sale at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, 1005 Van Hoosen Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48306. Tickets are $10, and will be sold on Fridays and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. by cash or check only. Space is limited, don’t wait until the last minute to buy your ticket. For more information, go to www.RochesterGardenClub.org.
