Rochester Hills, Michigan– The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the City of Rochester Hills with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2009. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“This award demonstrates the city’s commitment to go beyond the minimum requirements of general accounting principles by preparing a comprehensive annual financial report in the spirit of transparency and full disclosure,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett.
The Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been given to the city’s primary employee that is responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. In this case, it was given to the City Accountant, Pamela Lee.
“Compiling the report is an accomplishment in itself, and receiving the award is a true sense of achievement,” states Pamela Lee.
Reports submitted to the CAFR program are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and the GFOA Special Review Committee (SRC). The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
