Rochester Hills Awarded for Budget Presentation

Rochester Hills, Michigan– The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Rochester Hills with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget year ending December 31, 2010. The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by the city. 

“This award demonstrates the city’s commitment to go beyond the minimum requirements of general accounting principles by preparing a comprehensive annual financial report in the spirit of transparency and full disclosure,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett.

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award has been given to the city’s primary employee and department responsible, in this case it was given to the Director of Finance, Keith Sawdon.

Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association that serves approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
