Employees Kick-Off 30 Days of Community Giving
The City of Rochester Hills has much to be thankful for and so many reasons to celebrate. Not only was the City recently recognized as one of the Top 10 Best Places to Live in America by Money Magazine, but 12 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, will officially mark the City’s 30th Birthday.
From its humble beginnings in 1817 when James Graham first settled in Avon Township to 1984 when Rochester Hills became a city, Rochester Hills has grown to become the 15th largest city in the state of Michigan, the press release stated.
“The past 30 years have been pretty incredible for our city. We are very grateful for all of the recognition and awards we have received as of late, and wanted to say thank to our residents by giving back,” states Bryan K. Barnett, Mayor of Rochester Hills.
To commemorate this milestone, employees will kick-off “30 Days of Giving” by spending their time and talent out in the community. “So much of who we are is due in large measure to the many service organizations that support the needs of this community,” states Barnett.
With 75,000 residents, there are probably 75,000 reasons why people love Rochester Hills. The top ranked schools, pristine parks and trails, innovative business community, and picturesque neighborhoods are surely on the top of many happy residents’ lists. While for others it is great partners like the Rochester Hills Public Library, Older Persons’ Commission, Oakland University, and Rochester College.
“Whatever your reason for loving our community, we want to hear from you,” states Tara Presta, Mayor’s Chief Assistant of Communications and Marketing. “Residents are being asked to share their reason(s) why they love Rochester Hills by using #RHTop10 and/or #innovativebynature.”
The top reasons given by residents will be part of the Rochester Hills parade entry in the Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade.
“We recognize that we are a blessed community. Whether you are an original Avon Township resident or a brand new addition this past year, we are happy you have chosen to live in our spectacular city,” states Barnett.
Established in 1984, the City of Rochester Hills is a prosperous community offering residents and businesses superior services. Voted as one of the top 10 places to live by Money Magazine in 2014 and by RelocateAmerica.com, Rochester Hills is committed to sustaining its position among the nation’s preeminent places to live, work and raise a family. Through the city’s focus on health, education and technology, the community continues to attract forward-thinking families and businesses.
