Rochester Hills City Clerk’s Office hiring Election Inspectors

According to a press release from Mayor Bryan K. Barnett”s office, the Rochester Hills City Clerk”s Office is looking for people to continue the time-honored tradition of working the polls on Election Day. By serving as an Election Inspector, residents can serve their community and earn extra income at the same time.

Inspectors will be stationed at one of 32 precincts throughout the city and will be responsible for the precinct and voter activities on Election Day. Election Inspectors are paid for working on Election Day and also receive additional payment for attending mandatory training prior to Election Day.

“The City Clerk”s Office cannot staff 32 precincts on Election Day; we need Election Inspectors to make our elections run smoothly,” said Tina Barton, Rochester Hills City Clerk. “They truly are the backbone of our democracy and we are very fortunate to have a wonderful group of inspectors.”

Many inspectors enjoy serving for a variety of reasons: a sense of pride, civic duty, and the social aspects of being an Election Inspector. Inspectors often work at the same precincts and with the same fellow inspectors year after year. They frequently maintain friendships outside of the polling place and look forward to seeing their neighbors every Election Day.

Election Inspectors must be at least 18 years old and be a qualified and registered elector of the state of Michigan. Inspectors are allowed to serve in a community other than their own. Election Inspector applications are available at the Rochester Hills City Clerk”s Office or on the City”s website: http://www.rochesterhills.org/elections.

The election dates for which inspectors will be hired are August 5, 2014 and November 4, 2014. For more information about serving as an Election Inspector, contact the Rochester Hills City Clerk”s Office at 248-656-4630.
