Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan is grateful for a donation of $8,100 from the Rochester Hills Government Youth Council. Sixteen Rochester Hills high-school students comprise the council that held a charitable 5K run/walk to benefit Assistance League’s philanthropic programs that clothe, feed, educate and comfort infants, children and adults in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
“We are so thankful to be chosen by this remarkable group of teens who have recognized the needs within our communities. We appreciate their compassion to help others,” said Assistance League President Rosemary Dirksen.
The Youth Council began in 2005 to promote youth involvement in local government through active participation and exchange of ideas and experiences. Their annual 5K is a hallmark charitable event that allows local teens to contribute to the betterment of their community.
Rochester Hills Deputy Clerk Leanne Scott presented the check to Assistance League President Rosemary Dirksen and VP Fund Development, Betty Zych.
Some of the philanthropic programs that will benefit from this donation include: Assault Survivor Kits, Link to Creative Teaching and Operation School Bell.
