Rochester Hills hosts ‘Play Ball’ a Free Major League Baseball Event

Mayor Bryan K. Barnett has partnered with Major League Baseball and the Rochester Avon Recreation Authority (RARA) to host a free Play Ball event. Boys and girls ages 6-14 will have the chance to enjoy a fun night learning new drills, sharpening their skills, and more.

Three dozen kids and few adults pose for a photo on a Baseball field. A few children in the front hold a sign that reads Play Ball.

“After a year of virtual experiences we’re excited to get our kids back on the field,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “We look forward to providing this fun opportunity to learn and love America’s pastime.”

The Play Ball initiative is baseball’s collective effort to encourage young people and communities to engage in baseball- or softball-related activities. This event has become a popular tradition in the city and serves as an outlet for physical activity, fun with friends and a chance to learn how to play the sport at its most basic levels.

Play Ball has been scheduled for July 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Earl E. Borden Park located at 1400 E Hamlin Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307. There is no registration fee and everyone will have the opportunity to participate, however parents will need to sign up their young athletes.
