The City of Rochester Hills is proud to announce that Rochester Hills was the only city in the State of Michigan to be recognized in USA Today’s Top 50 Most Livable Cities. In fact, Rochester Hills was ranked 14th Most Livable City in America. Carmel, Indiana was ranked number one.
According to USA Today, while in neighboring Detroit crime and economic decline have reduced the value of a typical home, homes in Rochester Hills have continued to appreciate and are now roughly $90,000 more than the U.S. median home value.

In 2016, Rochester Hills was recognized at the Safest City in Michigan and the 6th Safest City in the Nation according to FBI data. Along with a historically low unemployment rate, currently at 2.9%, the city is also experiencing their lowest vacancy rates ever. Rochester Hills currently has 99% occupancy in our technology parks and 97% occupancy city-wide.
The USA Today article also mentioned education as a large indicator. “High school students in Rochester Hills test better than students in any city in Michigan other than Troy or Ann Arbor, and 57.3% of adults have at least a bachelor’s degree — far more than the 31.3% of adults nationwide,” said the report.
In addition to this, U.S. Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced that three schools within Rochester Hills were awarded National Blue Ribbon status for 2017. Only 13 schools were nominated statewide.
