Rochester Hills Public Library Creates Sensory Garden

Rochester Hills Public Library invites patrons to experience a new element in the library’s garden area.

This summer the library’s Outreach Department added new plaques to its garden area, identifying different plant species. The plaques are in Braille as well as standard text.

The signs encourage visitor to explore the garden through their sense of touch, smell and even sound. The mounting posts for the signs were a donation from 3-Dimensional Services Group.

“We are truly grateful to 3-Dimensional Services Group for their generosity. We want to encourage everyone to come and experience the garden,” said Outreach Services Manager Mary Davis.

The signs are part of the library’s initiative to make its environment more inclusive.

The Rochester Hills Public Library also offers an extensive collection of audio and large print books and offers magnifiers and light up glasses to help those with visual impairments. To learn more about the library’s Outreach Services please visit www.RHPL.org.

A new bench has been added to the garden where you make climb in and sit in the garden and enjoy the fragrance of the spice viburnum bushes. Come enjoy and read in the garden!
