For too many, losing the one you love at a young age isn’t just a fear but a reality. As a show of support to anyone who may be grieving, we’ve invited Author Kristen Meekhof, to discuss her new book A widow’s Guide to Healing, March 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Meekhof will share how becoming a widow at a young age came with its own challenges. After losing her husband to cancer, Meekhof learned firsthand how complicated issues like finances, estates, and parenting could be while still grieving. Authoring the book, A Widow’s Guide to Healing: Gentle Support and Advice for the First 5 Years, Meekhof stands as a support system for the many who feel lost after a loss.
“Widows often have to make decisions that no one has prepared them for,” says Meekhof. “My goal is to answer the questions I needed to know when I lost Roy, so others can find their way through such a hard time in life.”
Meekhof is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post, MariaShriver.com, WomenThatSoar and others. She has received praise on her book from Katie Couric, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Maria Shriver and countless other widows, authors, and specialists in this area.
“Kristen has a remarkable story that will touch the hearts of everyone who hears it and it’s a privilege to be able to offer this program to our patrons,” says Community Relations Specialist Amanda Harrison Keighley.
