Rochester Hills Public Library (RHPL) has launched new downloadable services that enable patrons to utilize ebooks, movies, and television shows on their personal devices, in response to a growing demand. The new services include cloudLibrary, Kanopy, Acorn TV, and Qello Concerts.
“At Rochester Hills Public Library, we believe convenience and ease of use, are essential elements in serving a tech savvy community, and with our latest launches we’re taking our expansive collection of digital media to the next level,” said Jessica Parij, manager of Adult Services. “We’ve listened to our patrons and are offering innovative solutions to meet their growing demands for more digital media that is accessible at home or on the go.”
“Our new online media collection represents an even more compelling resource for library card holders, with more documentaries, eBooks, and concerts,” said Amanda Harrison Keighley, community relations specialist at the library. “When combined with our in-house programs like computer help for seniors and e-branch appointments, these new digital services are something everyone will enjoy.”
Some may remember using cloudLibrary at RHPL several years ago, cloudLibrary will complement the eBook and eAudiobook offerings currently offered through OverDrive/Libby. cloudLibrary allows the RHPL to partner with several other Michigan libraries to bring more variety in electronic book offerings.
Borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, music, movies, and TV shows with no waiting. Titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later.
Kanopy has a database of over 30 thousand films which are now accessible to all RHPL card holders on their desktop, television or mobile device with the Kanopy app. Offering what the New York Times calls “a garden of cinematic delights,” Kanopy hosts some of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, hard-to-find titles, film festival and independent favorites and class films.
