Rochester Hills Public Library Receives Donation From American House Stone

American House Stone, a senior living facility in Rochester Hills generously donated appetizers for the library’s Read For The Win Summer Reading Kickoff Party, June 11.

“I was thrilled to hear that American House Stone decided to provide food for the library’s party this year,” said Rochester Hills Public Library Director Christine Lind Hage. “The generous donation encourages people to attend the party, to get signed up for summer reading.”

Rochester Hills Public Library’s summer reading program, Read For The Win, is designed to help forestall the ‘summer slide’ in reading some students experience during the school break.

The program also has activities for adults and is offering prizes like a Fitbit to encourage participants to meet their goals.

“The benefits of reading in adulthood are sometimes overlooked. Read For The Win is our opportunity to remind adults that reading is just as important for your brain health as exercise is to your physical health,” said Adult Services Manager Jessica Parji.

The library offers a wide variety of book clubs including one at Spencer Beach June 24, and a Walk and Talk the second Monday of each month.

Community support is an important component to being able to offer a community party like this. The Rochester Hills Public Library is grateful to American House Stone for its support.
