Rochester Hills Public Library Youth Programs

Residents of Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Oakland Township, don’t miss these exciting events at Rochester Hills Public Library. Each child must be registered under his or her own library card and be a resident of Rochester, Rochester Hills or Oakland Township. Registration is online. All registration begins one week prior to the scheduled program at 9 a.m., unless otherwise noted. All youth programs are funded by the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library. Story Groups

Spring Story Group registration begins April 11. This session lasts for five weeks. There are many groups offered each week, but

  • Each child can only register for one group.
  • Children must be registered for a story group with their own card. Library cards are issued to residents of Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Oakland Township of any age at the Information Desk.
  • Registration covers the entire five-week session. You do not have to register separately for each week.

Poetry Board Game

Grades 3 & up

Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

Multipurpose Room

REGISTER ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING. In honor of National Poetry Month come play a life-size board game where you and a team will create some lightning quick poems in different formats such as odes, haikus, ekphrastic, acrostics and limericks. At the end of the program we will share favorite poems and put them together in a book.

Fold and Fly

Grades K-8

Wednesday, April 27

6:30-7:30 p.m., Multipurpose Room

REGISTER ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING. Perfect your paper airplane folding techniques and learn some new styles. Test out your aircraft on the runway and see how far it flies! Caregivers are required to attend with children Grades K-2

Choose Your Own Book Club

5th-8th grade book club

April 26

7:30-8:30 p.m., Story Room

REGISTER ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING. Each month we’ll pick a different theme to read about—choose your own book on that theme, and we’ll meet to discuss what we read, then pick a new theme for the next month!
