Rochester Hills Seeks Crossing Guards

According to the National Center for Safe Routes to School, adult school crossing guards play an important role in the lives of children who walk or bicycle to school by helping them safely cross the street at key locations. They remind drivers of the presence of pedestrians. It can also help parents feel more comfortable letting their children walk or bike to school.

“Walking to school is a great way for kids to get they physical activity they need,” states Mayor Bryan K. Barnett. “Crossing guards are an important part of making sure our youngest residents get there safely.”

Crossing Guards work one hour in the morning and ¾ – 1 hour in the afternoon ensuring that students safely cross the street at specific school crossing locations. Work is performed only on days that school is in session.

Rochester Hills Crossing Guards make $26.00-$28.00 per day (day includes one morning and one afternoon crossing). Applicants must be over 18 years old and pass a physical exam including drug screen.
