Arbor Day in Rochester Hills
As one of over three thousand communities across the country recognized as a Tree City USA, the City of Rochester Hills is proud to celebrate 26 years of dedication to tree planting, conservation, and environmental stewardship. Tree City USA is sponsored by the National Arbor day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
“Tree City USA communities see the impact an urban forest has in a community first hand,” said Dan Lambe, President of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Additionally, recognition brings residents together and creates a sense of community pride, whether it’s through volunteer engagement or public education.”
Trees can be assets to a community when properly planted and maintained. They help to improve the visual appeal of a neighborhood or shopping district, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants, and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits.A free white spruce seedling will be given to attendees at the event.
The Rochester Hills Museum is located at 1005 Van Hoosen Road. For additional information regarding this year’s Arbor Day Ceremony, visit www.rochesterhills.org/forestry or contact the Parks and Forestry Department at (248) 656-4673.
