Celebrate 200 Years at Rochester Homecoming

Twenty-seventeen marks the 200th Anniversary of the founding of Rochester. In celebration of this historic milestone, the City of Rochester will host Rochester Homecoming on Saturday, August 12, at Rochester Municipal Park.

At 10:00 a.m., the City of Rochester will officially unveil the Bicentennial Monument. Located at the entrance to the Rochester Municipal Park, the centerpiece of the monument will feature a Sundial designed by Michigan artist Russell Thayer, surrounded by Historic Decade Stones depicting key moments in Rochester’s history, benches and engraved brick pavers.

At 12 noon, the Rochester Homecoming will kick off with a Bicycle Parade, where children of all ages are invited to decorate their bikes in red, white, and blue. Activities throughout the day include the Upland Hills Mobile Farm, Oakland County Parks Activity Area, food, Touch-A-Truck with Rochester Police and Fire Department Vehicles, and much more.

Concluding the evening, starting at 6:00 p.m., will be Concerts the Band Shell featuring Audrey Ray and Ashley Lynn & the Spurs. Then, at 9:00 p.m., the Balloon Glow begins, followed by the Bicentennial Fireworks Display at 9:40 p.m.
