Local portrait photographer, Jocelyn Muirhead is dedicated to getting the word out about the importance of cancer screening. Jocelyn, who specializes in family and children’s portraiture, recently participated in the POH Regional Medical Center’s Eighth Annual Black & Pink Tie Affair, Nov. 6, at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
“I have a deep connection to the POH Regional Medical Center, in particularly it’s radiology department, having finished my thirteen-year career at POH as Radiology Chief Technologist,” said Jocelyn Muirhead of Jocelyn M. Artistic Photography in Rochester, MI. “Recently, I was asked to create a framed portrait to commemorate Dr. David A. Kellam’s fifty years of devoted service to the radiology department. The portrait was presented at a retirement party in honor of Dr. Kellam, whom is, also, one of this year’s honorees at the Pink and Black Tie Affair. Other honorees include Mrs. Yvette Bing, First Lady of the City of Detroit and Mrs. Lauren Campbell-Sanders, WDIV Local 4 News Anchor. This past year both, a cousin and my sister-in-law, fell victim to breast cancer. I feel privileged for the opportunity to donate a portrait session and portrait to this event’s fundraising auction. The auction raises funds to provide low income, uninsured and underserved women in Oakland County with potentially life-saving breast cancer screenings through its Sister & Sister free mammogram program.”
Special guests at this year’s event included Dave Bing, Mayor of the City of Detroit and NBA Hall of Famer, Philip Incarnati, President and CEO of McLaren Health Care Corporation, Patrick E. Lamberti, President and CEO of POH Regional Medical Center, and L. Brookes Patterson, Oakland County Executive.
For more than 50 years, POH Regional Medical Center (POHRMC) has been dedicated to ensuring families in northern Oakland County have access to state-of the- art health care services regardless of their ability to pay. Each year, POHRMC provides more than $10 million dollars in uncompensated care to children, women, men and families in need.
To carry forward their mission to deliver the best possible care with compassion and concern for all, donations from the Eighth Annual Black and Pink Tie Affair will help purchase a new state-of-the-art digital mammography system to provide high quality breast cancer screenings, diagnostic tests, and follow-up treatment by highly trained professional staff.
