On Saturday, October 24, World Polio Day, Rochester Rotarians and community members walked with the polio flame from Rotary Park (near the Rochester Hills Public Library) to Par Pharmaceutical’s sterile manufacturing facility on Parkdale in Rochester where the polio vaccine was originally manufactured by Parke-Davis, one of only five pharmaceutical companies in the nation selected to do so at the time.

Following the walk, Par Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Endo International, recognized Rotary International’s significant achievements to eradicate polio and honored the historic involvement of Parke-Davis on the Rochester facility grounds by hosting a tour and commemorative event for participants and PAR employees and their families.
