A 63-year-old woman was stuck by a car while crossing in the parking lot crosswalk of the Rochester Hills Kroger Store (65 S. Livernois Road at Walton Blvd.) on Wednesday afternoon.
The woman was taken to Crittenton Hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.
The driver, an 82-year-old woman from Rochester Hills, was driving a 2001 Honda Accord. She was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. No charges have been filed against the driver to date, but could be.

I won’t even shop at the Kroger on Livernois because it is too dangerous!!! There really isn’t a crosswalk. You step out of store and two feet later you’re in the thorough way of traffic. Plus, people drive at high speeds through that parking lot for some reason. Kroger needs to do something about making it safer for their customers.
I was there immediately after the crash and was horrified, but not at all surprised. Seeing the firemen wash down the crosswalk of that poor lady’s blood brought me to tears. I’m only 45, but I walk with a cane and I’ve been nearly plowed down by traffic going way too fast in that crosswalk. Sometimes my cane is in the cart, and I’ve had a driver actually pull up as close as they possibly could without touching me and say “hurry up”… I guess because it looked like I was just taking my sweet time. It’s like the drivers think the pedestrians are supposed to wait for them. Not! It’s completely the other way around. I like Kroger’s selections, prices and the overall friendliness of associates. But I must admit, my stress level is to the max entering and exiting. The owners of the plaza can remedy this danger by putting in flashing crosswalk signs. I wish law enforcement could use video footage and mail out tickets, it would get some attention.
