The French word “Fondre,” meaning to melt, has developed into many different versions from cultures around the world. The first cheese versions originated centuries ago in the Swiss Alps as villagers saved hardened cheese, wine, and bread to sustain themselves during the long winters. Later, in the mid-1960s, Chef Konrad Egli of New York’s Chalet Suisse Restaurant was credited with creating chocolate fondue. Today, fondue remains one of the rare communal dining experiences that everyone can enjoy.
Romance through the Ages will be a special evening featuring cooking demonstrations from Chef Pam Gustairs who will teach you the finer secrets of chocolate fondue and provide dipping treats for all.
Participants may test their creative side and design their own personal card or “escort” card and learn the funny history of their invitational callings to request a date. They will also have fun comparing traditional 1800s formality to their own imaginative designs.
Also, learn the unique history of courtship and romantic traditions presented by the knowledgeable Gail Sanderson.
Program provided by the Historic District Commission to promote Cranberry Lake Farm.
Please RSVP by February 8 to reserve your spot. Ages 16 and over.
