Rosemary Clooney was a star of film, TV and radio for more than 50 years. In “Tenderly, The Rosemary Clooney Musical,” see the story of her ups and downs told through the songs she made famous.
Tenderly, The Rosemary Clooney Musical by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman runs Wednesday, February 14 through Sunday, March 11 at Meadow Brook Theatre on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester.
Audiences will follow the star from her start in Kentucky through her rise to stardom, with familiar songs like “Come On-A-My House,” “Straighten Up and Fly Right” and, of course, “Tenderly.”
“This is a great life story. There were a lot of ups and downs along the way,” said Travis Walter, MBT artistic director. “Rosemary Clooney lived an amazing life and telling the story through her songs is perfect.”
Meadow Brook newcomer Kim Rachelle Harris is Rosemary Clooney while audience favorite Ron Williams is The Doctor.
Tenderly, The Rosemary Clooney Musical is directed by Travis W. Walter. Terry W. Carpenter is the stage manager with set design by Kristen Gribbin, costume design by Corey Collins, light design by Scott Ross and sound design by Mike Duncan.
Jeffrey Campos is the music director, conductor and plays piano in the band, which also includes Ryan Crum (bass) and Nick Matthews (percussion).

In a special event, Rosemary Clooney’s nephew, Carlos Campo, will be joining the audience for a talk back after the performance on Friday, February 16. The talk back is included with ticket purchase for that evening.
