At the Big Build, they will build new raised beds and kits for 2015. We will be able to work both inside and outside depending on the weather. Raising Rochester is a multi-community raised bed garden program created and operated by KidzKare, a Rochester based 501(c)3 non-profit formed in 2011 by pediatrician Jay Mitchell, MD. Raising Rochester provides fresh, organically grown produce to local food pantries. The concept brings education, community, and those in need together all for the common good. The goal is to contribute to a healthier community by providing a more balanced diet. The press release also stated that the program is seeking garden hosts, volunteers for garden care and harvesting (no experience necessary and all ages and groups are welcome), and financial sponsors for funding the program.
