Send birthday love to local shelter kids, here’s how

IMG_5513

Colorful balloons, the scent of  blown-out candles and sugar indulgence of frosting on your lips. Turning 5 or 35, what’s better than feeling on top of the world on your birthday? As a kid and even as an adult, there just seems to be an extra pep in your step on your special day.

So that’s why I’m sharing this little post.

I received a text message from the organization Do Something Org this afternoon about sending a birthday card to Michigan children who call a local shelter home. They told me which spot was closest and receiving birthday cards.

If you have some construction paper sitting around, maybe some extra sticker, and you feel like getting a little crafty–here is how you can mail a birthday wish to some nearby kiddos.

Step one: Craft a cheery card.

Then: Address it to:

South Oakland Shelter

8505 West 12 Mile Road

Lathrup Village, MI 48076.

And: Drop it in the mail then smile, because with a bit of luck, you’ll make the receiver smile, too.

We’d love to see your creation, so share a photo of the birthday card you sent and we’ll display them online.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
