Sheet Music, Books, Media and More at the Library’s Winter Used Book Sale

Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library Used Book Sale set for January 29 – February 2

This sale features a large selection of sheet music and instruction books priced at $1 or less.

Interested in something else? Friends Book sale chair Ann Gruenewald said, “Due to several large donations of children’s books, we have an especially large selection. The majority are 50 cents, but we have quite a few exceptional ones in like-new condition that are priced slightly higher.”

The sale takes place at the Friends’ second floor used book sale facility at the Library, 500 Olde Towne Road in downtown Rochester.

Except for a few higher quality items that are priced individually, hardcover and large softcover books are $1, paperbacks and children’s books are 50 cents. Also available are many CDs, books on CD, DVDs, board and digital games, and VHS tapes that are inexpensively priced.

The order of sale follows the usual pattern: The first day is a presale for members of the Friends group, the library’s donor support arm. They get first look at the stock Wednesday, January 29, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Memberships — individual $20; family $35; Student/Senior $10; senior couple $20— are available at the door.

Afterward, public sales hours are:

  • Thursday, January 30, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, January 31, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 1, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, February 2, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday is also Bag Day, where buyers can fill a grocery bag of remaining items for $5 a bag.

Note that the sale hours vary slightly from the library’s hours of operation on those days.

Library patrons throughout the year donate the books and other sales material. For more info on how to donate and on the value of a Friends membership, go to www.rhpl.org and click on the Friends link at the bottom of the home page.
