At a special kick-off held on Wednesday, October 27, at 10 am at the Sheriff’s Headquarters in Pontiac, Sheriff
Bouchard, PODS (Portable On Demand Storage), and 1-800-MINI-STORAGE will rally together to encourage the
community to donate their gently used or new coats for those less fortunate. PODS is donating their containers for the
coat collection for the sixth year in a row. 1-800-MINI-STORAGE is providing the drop boxes.
Additionally, the 2nd annual “Treats for Troops” candy collection is also kicking off for parents looking for an alternative to their children consuming too much candy and wish to have it sent to our Troops serving overseas. The OCSO also encourages parents and children wishing to participate to include notes of thanks or encouragement to the troops with the donation.
Halloween candy (individually wrapped, no chocolate please) may be dropped off at Sheriff’s Office substations as well as at 1-800-MINI-STORAGE locations in Oak Park and Troy (more details available at kick-off and at www.oaklandsheriff.com). Michigan Military Moms that ships care packages to troops will assist with the shipping portion of the project.
