Snow Emergency for City of Rochester
The City of Rochester has declared a snow emergency effective at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15. All vehicles on residential streets are to be moved to driveways. If you do not have a driveway, you may park your vehicle in the City’s Parking Decks free of charge.
Vehicles that remain on the street are subject to being ticketed and/or towed. The snow emergency will be in effect until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 16. Having vehicles off the street makes for a faster and cleaner job of snow plowing.
Rochester Hills Declares Snow Emergency
Due to the forecasted winter storm, Mayor Bryan K. Barnett has issued a snow emergency for the City of Rochester Hills effective February 16, 2021 at 4:00 a.m. until further notice. Due to the snow emergency, there will be no parking on city streets starting at 4:00 a.m. until further notice.
All residents are asked to remove their vehicles from all city streets to allow the plows to clear the snow safely and efficiently. Vehicles parked in the roadway could be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
During winter months, the Department of Public Services is responsible for snow and ice control on 240 miles of Local Roads and 48 miles of City Major Roads. Anyone who does not have to travel is asked to stay off of the roadways during the storm and subsequent snow removal operations. The public’s cooperation as we deal with this winter storm is greatly appreciated.
During this time, please assist your fellow neighbors and check in on the elderly and disabled. Thank you for being patient as crews continue to work in tough conditions to clear roads. If you have to drive, please allow for extra time and travel safely.
Residents can stay updated on the status of plowing operations. The city’s state of the art Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) system uses technology to show viewers the real-time locations and status of snow plows. Now anyone with a computer, tablet, or smartphone can access an online map to track the work of snowplows throughout the city from the comfort of their own home.
