Southfield Jazz Orchestra to perform at the RHPL

The Rochester Hills Public Library’s Sunday Concert on October 6, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., will feature The Southfield Jazz Orchestra.

The Southfield Jazz Orchestra was started in January of 2010 under the direction of Saxophonist Eric Rayford. The band performs mostly as a Jazz Ensemble playing big band jazz style music featuring tunes such as “In the mood,” “Teach Me Tonight,” “Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White,” “Love for sale,” and many more. Local Saxophonist George Benson and Vocalist Barbara Ware are international jazz artists who are Southfield Jazz Orchestra’s own artists in resident.

The concert is free, but registration is required and open to those with a Rochester Hills Public library card. To register, go to http://calendar.rhpl.org or call 248-656-2900. The library’s website (www.rhpl.org) has information on how to register for a card and access all of the library’s services.

The Rochester Hills Public Library is located in downtown Rochester two blocks east of Main Street off of University Drive on Olde Towne Road. For more information, call 248-650-7124.
