Special “The Man Who Never Was” presentation at the Friends of the RHPL Annual Meeting

The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library will hold their annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 23 in the library’s Multipurpose Room. After the meeting, Rochester Library patrons are welcome to attend the presentation by Frank Cardimen on The Man Who Never Was, an Allied deception during WWII.

Historian Frank Cardimen will discuss the World War II deception (Operation Mincemeat) by the British that convinced the Germans that the Allied Invasion to Europe would be Greece… not Sicily where the invasion took place in 1943. Frank Cardimen is an Adjunct Professor at Oakland University for 36 years, a consultant for Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farms and past president of the Greater Rochester Chamber.

Registration is required and open to those with a Rochester Hills Public library card. To register go to the Events Calendar at www.rhpl.org or call 248-656-2900.

Before Mr. Cardimen’s presentation, the Friends will hold their annual meeting which will include the presentation of their yearly donation to the Library, some memorial presentations, and the announcement of the 2014 Friends Volunteer of the Year. This award is given annually to volunteers deemed to have made significant contributions of time, effort and commitment to the endeavors of the Friends of RHPL.

The library is located at 500 Olde Towne Road in Rochester.
