March is going to be a busy month at the Older Persons’ Commission (OPC) facility, and area residents 50 and older are invited to come in and experience all that the OPC has to offer. For the entire month of March, the OPC will celebrate Spring into Action, where current and new members can experience the multitude of fitness, aquatics, Enrichment and Arts classes, events and programs offered at the facility. Everyone 50+ is encouraged to visit to learn more about the benefits of joining this organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of local seniors.
OPC membership, free to all residents 50+ of Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township, provides state of the art fitness amenities, therapy and lap pools, and Enrichment and Arts programming taught and presented by professionals and leaders in their respective fields. OPC presents everything from pickleball to ballet, self-defense, interval training and lane swimming to aqua yoga, fine arts, pottery, lectures, concerts, a woodshop, and lapidary. The organization also offers local transportation, an on-site Adult Day Service and provides Meals on Wheels.
At 10:00 a.m. on March 7, author Stacie Zotkovich kicks off the Spring into Action event by sharing creative strategies and activities to help people move towards and achieve their goals. For art lovers, there is an Inspirational Art Exhibit and Show taking place the week of March 7, with an awards ceremony on Friday, March 11. Veterans and their spouses can join the Veterans Connection group on March 9 for camaraderie and a delicious breakfast. The School of Rock will perform on Saturday, March 26, and there are many more exciting events and activities ongoing throughout the month. All new and potential members are encouraged to attend one of the new member coffees scheduled during the month to explore membership, learn about the organization and meet new friends. The festivities will wrap up March 31 with a fun and informative presentation by keynote speaker Walt Stasinski, touting the benefits of laughter and joy in our everyday lives.
